What does Essence do in 100 Days at Sea?
A clear answer to the material question, with the Steel relationship left open until the UI proves it.
In the researched system, Essence is primarily a Potion ingredient. The material is described as being combined with two other inputs at a Potion Table; the source pack identifies five types, but exact colors, drops, carry behavior, and the relationship to Steel still need current-version confirmation.
Five Essence types
The names below are the category structure recorded in the source pack. They are useful for organizing a test and linking to Potion categories; they are not a claim about exact drop tables or a permanent color code.
| Type | Planning use | Evidence state |
|---|---|---|
| Wacky Essence | Track against the Wacky Potion group. | Community category |
| Utility Essence | Track against the Utility Potion group. | Community category |
| Attack Essence | Track against the Attack Potion group. | Community category |
| Defence Essence | Track against the Defense Potion group; source spelling varies. | Community category |
| Healing Essence | Track against the Healing Potion group. | Community category |
How the material is reported to be used
Bring it to the Potion Table
The source descriptions place Essence in a three-input Potion Table workflow. The exact table gate and UI wording are still version-dependent.
Match the category to the test
Use the type name to test the corresponding Potion category, but record the actual output instead of inferring an effect from the name.
Record the physical interaction
The community page describes Essence as a sack/carry interaction rather than a normal inventory item. That behavior needs a screenshot before it becomes a final instruction.
How to obtain it
The available material points to entities as a source and names specific islands as community farming leads. Those locations are not presented as guaranteed spawn rules here: the research pass did not complete an in-game route test, and the source does not establish a universal drop rate or Boss exception.
“Found once on an island” is not the same as “always drops from this enemy.” A useful verification record needs the entity, location, version, whether a sack appeared, and the resulting Essence type.
What is the relationship between Essence and Steel?
The current source pack does not provide a reliable answer. It does not establish that Essence and Steel are the same item, an upgrade chain, or a recipe relationship. This page intentionally stops at “not confirmed” rather than filling the gap with a name-based guess.
